Ninth Symphony

After the first part of the war with Afghans, Nader sent an ambassador to the Ottoman Turks, demanding the restitution of Azerbaijan. There was also another quarrel between Nader and Tahmasp — `as the truth is bitter, his words displeased Shah Tahmasp`- and the Shah withdraw from the army in a huff, taking his guards with him.

On the morning of 13 November 1729, rather than attack the Afghans in the defensive positions Ashraf had set up, Nader instead attempted to draw them out into the open plain by marching across their flank, direct for Isfahan:
