A college student who left Florida to avoid Hurricane Irma ended up trapped in a NJ Transit car parked in a rail yard on Thursday. Claire Connelly told NJ.com, “I fell asleep reading biology notecards, I was just exhausted from all the chaos.” She was headed towards Middletown, NJ, but fell asleep and woke up at the end of the Raritan line.

Connelly’s school, Florida Gulf Coast University, announced it would be closed on Thursday
